Voting for BootsnAll - The Webby’s

BootsnAll members,
I was outraged this year when the Webby Awards listed their nominees and BootsnAll wasn’t one of them. Mostly because some of the sites they chose didn’t fulfill several of the categories that they were being judged on, and in many of them.

Today, I don’t know how many weeks later, I went to the People’s Choice section of the Webby Awards to put in my vote for BootsnAll, and guess what? NO ONE ELSE HAD VOTED FOR THEM. There were a bunch of votes for cruise critic, cruise addict, and virtual tourist. I’m still waiting for my own vote for BnA to show up.

If we, the members and fans of BootsnAll, can’t get them to win a People’s Choice award, then I guess they don’t deserve to be nominated. But really, I’m going to go all out and try and show the Webby’s that BnA.com is a contender.

Please, please, go to the People’s Choice section on the Webby Awards, take the minute to register your email, and put your vote in for BootsnAll.com (URL: http://www.bootsnall.com)

I think we need 100 votes to win. But I really want to make a point and see if we can’t get alot more than that. As of today there were 75 votes for other travel web sites.

Here’s the link. Let’s really help them out. http://www.webbyawards.com/peoplesvoice/register.html

Thanks, we can do this. BootsnAll is a great travel community and a site that’s helping independent travelers the world round.

Thanks Guys,
Here’s the thing. They don’t post the votes in the “write in” category. Not until we take the lead and have more votes than cruise critic.

What they DO post is web site Reviews, and there were 77+ of them yesterday. I think I’m #76 & 77 due to an error.

It’d be great if you could write a short comment in their review section, because that’s what’s visible to the public and we need BnA up there more to get them some visual attention.

Thanks again!

We need more votes and reviews!

I’ve had 3 people tell me they’ve had trouble registering to vote on the Webby’s site. I think that there’s some kind of conspiracy behind the people’s voice award! jk.

Seriously, I appreciate all your efforts to get your vote on, and I hope that the rest of you will keep trying. Now’s a good time to email that friend you met through BootsnAll, whether it was someone who’s story you liked, someone you grabbed a beer with while traveling, or a boots member you shared some laughs with on the message boards. Take a min to say hi again, and let them know of our efforts to get BootsnAll the recognition it deserves.

Are they offering you a commission if you get them listed?

Commissions are for babies Brandon. Now that I work here, I’m getting my very own BootsLexus!

If you guys don’t change: A. the damned poll question about where the hell Dilbert would go on his vacation and B. This posting…..something else interesting HAS to be happening…..THEN, I will be forced to COMMANDEER THIS BLOG and make it my own, personal forum.

A. - We should change the poll - Brandon - could you help us and start some polls (about or related to travel) on the boards and we will start using those instead.

B - It already is your own personal forum!!

I got this email this week…..do any of YOU have to deal with this sort of thing? Philip Blazdell, I demand an answer.
FROM ANONYMOUS:
I’m traveling to Tamarindo in the next 90 days. Is this a good/bad time of year to travel in Costa Rica? My girl friend’s going to fly in a few days later. What are the local women like and are they inclined to hook-up with couples as my girl friend
also likes to do girls? Thanks for your input.

*****I AM NOT joking…..

SO, here’s today’s bitch…..to wit:

In my never-ending love affair with myself I frequently look at all things that make reference to me. Today while looking at The Costa Rica Insiders Page, I came across this: http://costaricabustickets.com/index.htm
which is a company owned by one of BootsnAll’s Costa Rica Insiders….I have to expose this as a TOTAL RIPOFF….NOW, I AM NOT SAYING THAT YOU WON’T BE PROVIDED SERVICE….because, quite frankly, I don’t know, but I AM SAYING THAT YOU WILL BE GOUGED IF YOU PATRONIZE THIS SERVICE.
EX. This company charges $15 for a one-way bus ticket to most destinations North and West of San Jose….Jesus Christ! A bus ticket to Tamarindo (about five hours by bus)only costs about ¢1500 or $5……do you mean to tell me that I am paying THREE TIMES the price of the ticket just for the ability to buy the ticket in advance? No dice, Jack.
You can take The Gray Line (private, smaller, nicer buses) to any major destination in CR for $19.
Also, they (this site) offer a service called: HOMEBASE. Now, get a grip and settle yourself for this…..they charge $79 for the no frills lodging (the night of arrival and before departure)….plus these things listed here…… I have listed THE REAL PRICE in parenthesis:
Transfers from and to the airport (by bus from any suburb of SJ= $1.50)
Two nights lodging (your first and last nights) includes breakfast ($14 with breakfast)
Bus ticket and reserved seat to any area we serve ($5)
1 hour free internet use ($1)
Local phone card allowing to make calls from anywhere in the country ($1.50)
Now I’m a Writer and not a Mathematician, but this sounds dangerously close to usurious greed… I’m all for a man making a buck, BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE of people who, by their very affiliation with this site, proclaim to be thoroughly committed to COST EFFECTIVENESS….. In my opinion, this person should be banned from this site and kicked squarely in the nuts.
