Settling in to Portland
By Sean | PermalinkSince moving up to Portland last week, we’ve run into a bunch of new people around our neighbourhood. As we make conversation, we’re often asked what it is that we do. The first question after they find out we’re a travel website is: “So, do you get to travel very much?”
We’ve thought about that a lot recently. During the first few years of BootsnAll, days would go by and we would barely know what the weather was like outside apart from when we went out to do the paper route) as we pounded away on the keyboards and built new content sections. More recently though, there’s been more and more times we’ve been headed to the airport, or loading up the BootBus for a road trip. The past two weeks have been a great example, with Sean and Chris heading down to San Francisco for a long weekend and then off to Chicago the weekend after that for personal as well as business reasons, and still be able to get a considerable amount of work done as if we were sitting at our desks.
It’s wonderful to have that sort of flexibility and to be able to have travel as part of your working life. And with Nick in Bali, Chris heading off to Australia in less than 2 weeks, and Anthony hitting Europe for 4 months in August, it seems as though we can finally answer “Yes” to that first question.

Hi guys! So I leave PDX for the desert of CA and you move there. Just when I was going to sit down and have a chat about the Far East (my upcoming trip). Bummer!
My last trip, backpacking through N & E Africa was a blast. I’ve been having lots of fun for an old lady and really enjoy your website. Your youth and energy keeps me going. Anyway, hope you enjoy the wet weather up there. My motto is: as long as I’m ambulatory, I’ll keep traveling.
