Notes: Urban Bastard refers to this post and this website. Leo made fun of me (rightfully so) cuz I think that “Urban King” may apply to me. Nothing like that to put me in my place…

We were typing very fast…hence the premature returns, and weird word swaps. I have no excuse for all the swearing. It’s the urban way.

I always go for the combo, ‘cheers, thanks, ta’,but never for goodbye.

C. O’Neill,

1)How popular of a saying is “ta” in England?

2)Among the folks you intereact with , about what % use that term if you had to guess?

Not sure why I care, but thx.

Probably depends on what part of the country you’re in, also maybe what ‘class’ of person.

I’d say it’s dropping out of use with younger people. I probably use it a lot less than I used to.

I worked with a guy from Kazahkstan once and when I said it to him, for the next hour it was ‘ta, ta, ta’.

What classes use it more? Upper? Middle? Lower?

Do you know what I would lovve Chris O’Neill…an article about the “Class System” in England…I mean - I know there is a serious one in India - but it would be cool.

You’d have to go a long way to find a bigger bunch of bastards than this current Labour government, all lining their own pockets as quickly as than can before ship goes down.

I think the class system here has changed a hell of a lot over the last 20 or so years. Money is the new barometer, background less important.
