Arrival in Delhi, India
By Sean | PermalinkSo I arrived in Delhi and BootsnAll head international air fare specialist Roger Green (AKA Rahul - more about the names later) picked me up at the airport. It has been almost 7 years since I was in India…
Previous travels to India: I had Long hair, long beard, and I guess I smelled like shit. (When I met my pops in Paris after being in India for 3 months - dad said I smelled like “crap”) - India was the culmination of an 8 month overland trip from England to India via Russia - Kazahstan, Western China, Tibet and Nepal.
So Roger picked me up - he is a studly 30 year old dude as well and we quickly launched into a discussion. Delhi has changed a lot since 1997 - a metro line is being built and a burgeoning middle class is exploding and Delhi seems like a happening place….so much so that Roger has no plans/doesn’t even want to move to the US. He likes it here just fine.
Roger told me that Bill Clinton stayed at a Hotel that we passed on the way into town - and Billy likes it so much here, that he is buying a house. Good on ya Bill.
Currently, I am watching these guys (there are 4 of them) do there thing and trying to learn more about the process of giving quotes and issuing tickets etc. It is fun to hear the phone ring and see these guys try there best to serve BootsnAll customers. Very cool.

Not many would go to Britain, Europe, the U.S. and Canada if more countries offered their citizes opportunities like what you’re seeing in Delhi. And how would this all affect those nations dependent on immigrants?
Finally catching up with ya Sean. Glad to hear the travels go well and you are enjoying your adventure. All is great back in ol’ PDX and our move in on in four days. We’ll have the hot tub ready for your travel weary bones. By the way, your pops and mom are awesome!!!
Good to hear from you Barrie - just went for a walk and have a few things I wanna write share. - Dusty - I will take some time here and there
Dewey: Congrats on your move - can’t wait to see the place.
Mum: Not sure - these are just my observations - not a scientific study. I’ll keep watching and looking though. Good question.

Glad to read that you arrived in one piece Sean!. I’m looking forward to reading your posts about India, especially considering you haven’t been there for 7 years.
I reckon it’s a real buzz returning to a place after a cetain amount of years - see the changes, advancements in infrastructure, cultural moves, people you once knew either moved elsewhere or carked it, and of course costs etc.
