Time Warp with Jen Leo

In the mid 90s I was a groupie to a Bay Area band called The Loved Ones. Not groupie in the Almost Famous sort of way. Just that I went to as many shows as I could, snuck into the Black and White Ball ($135 ticket prom for the City of SF) for one of their last performances, and had a big crush on their guitar player — Xan McCurdy who has since played with Cake. Anyway, they play kick arse blues funk in the style of the 60s.

They’re having a few reunion shows this weekend and I’m going, laugh lines and all. If anyone cares to join me, just hollar. They know me as the long haired brunette dancing in the front row with the big smile. I’ll probably be doing the same, but my hair isn’t as long.

Friday 10/31: The Ivy Room in Oakland
Saturday 11/1: Slim’s in San Francisco

Since I will be directly across the street drinking Manhattans at Nizza La Bella, maybe we can have a cocktail together beforehand. I am about 20 years too old to hang out at the Ivy Room though.

Yeah, but you’re not 20 years too old to see me acting like a dancing fool. Oh wait, you saw that at Sean’s surprise bday party.

Yeah, I’ll call you tomorrow. Or just meet you at NLB when I get there.
