Customer Service Inquiry

By Donovan | Permalink

As most of you might know, we receive many emails each day from curious travelers about all sorts of questions; some of them want to know about logisitics to their hostels, others want to know what Eurail pass they should buy, and others want US to tell them where to go on THEIR vacation. Well, today, I received one of my best questions. See Below.

Send them a McDonald’s Happy Meal and tell ‘em they’ll be able to survive on that for a week if none of ‘dat dere foreen food’ agrees with them.

Donovan,

You won’t believe this mate but a couple of years ago I was taking a booking for a RTW air ticket from a lady in LA.

She was quite serous and said something like “I want to go around the world starting in LA, then going to Thailand, then Italy.” I asked if she wanted any other stops and she said “what do you suggest, where else is good?” I said that I found India to be an interesting place so she said “Okay, Italy then India.” I told her it would be better to do India first.

I put her request through and after I hung up I thought ‘what is this person thinking when they are choosing their trip?’

I think its a great idea - bootsnall grub……brilliant!

It makes me laugh even more as I have just spent 10 days in holland with a group of american engineers - each night us brits would head off to the local cafe for bitterballen and kroketen whilst the americans would head off to McDonalds…..

Philip, your comment had me in stitches.

I found many Americans sooooooo American when travelling over 40 years ago and here I thought we’re into change, diversity….

BootsnAllgrub.com - sounds delicious, as well as brillant.

Speaking of foreign recipes, does anyone have a recipe for Thai Noodle Salad? I need a variant that doesn’t use any peanut products.

(I’m only half kidding…I’ve found one on the internet, but haven’t tried it yet, so I’m not sure if it’ll be as good as other versions I’ve had.)

When your sending the McDonalds food, just make sure to relable the 1/4 pounder w/ cheese to Burger Royale.

You could do up a fancy label in made up wording: “Ulderschnacht pernaldnj jhas hans.” and put it on a can of Friskies and send it. ::insert innocent whistling here:: Hmm? Wasn’t my suggestion.
