J-School Rears its Ugly Head
For those of you that don’t know, I studied journalism in college, and although I don’t do hard news reporting, I still consider myself part of that community. All of the J-school alumni are part of a massive listserve and every once and awhile something interesting will land in my e-mail. For those who don’t know, reporters are slightly cynical, cultish and typically left-leaning. However, they can also be a very powerful force when they choose to be. Every once and awhile the community will band together. This morning, I received a follow-up to a petition that was circulating for the past month. It marks the anniversary of the Palestine Hotel Attack in which friendly fire killed two journalists. What is BootBlog?
BootBlog is the company blog of the BootsnAll Travel Network, a company that has been connecting travellers since 1998. Our goal is to inspire, educate and cultivate an organic community of independent travellers. But what does that mean? Well, we love to travel and we love to connect other travellers who have the desire to get out and see this great world of ours. BootBlog will showcase what is going on around the office, around the company and within our community of travellers.Top Categories

I definitely agree with the need for open and full disclosure on the deaths, whereabouts of reporters - certainly for family members. Also, journalists need to be informed adequately of the situation they are getting into - even providing them with some measure of safety.
On the other hand, reporters who decide to witness events in volatile and dangerous areas know the risks they face - death being one of them.
Ideally, nations should respect the vital role reporters play - and leave do their jobs.
