San Francisco and Road Trip to Joshua Tree
I got back on Sunday night from a 5-day trip to parts of California.
San Francisco
Famed BootsnAll member joe e picked me up from SFO in his taxi.
Meet-up with the editor of Traveler’s Tales and author of World Travel Watch, Larry Habegger. We meet up for several hours and spent the 5th through 8th innings at Pac Bell park watching the Giants game. It was my first time in that park for a baseball game (Jen Leo took me to a Springsteen Concert last fall)
On Thursday nite I went with Phillip Blazdell to a reading by Stephanie Elizondo Griest from her book, “Around the Bloc” I arranged for PB and I to meet up with her before the reading. She drank tea as we gulped down a few beers. After seeing her read, I am glad we did not get her caffienated coffee. This woman puts on a show and give Jen Leo a serious run for animation, excitement and general crazyness…though, I doubt Stephanie would be caught drinking out of a dog bowl. Either way, the book by Stephanie is freakin’ awesome. So, Buy this book and check out her book tour schedule.
Friday had PB and I waking up early to meet up with Jessica for a Road Trip to Joshua Tree National Park via a Friday nite party session in Santa Barbara. I wish I had the time to break down all the details like Nick does, but I just don’t, so I’ll simply share a few pictures of the time that the lovely Jessie, PB and I spent together.

Me, Jessica, PB, and Amy Scott meet up for dinner near Joshua Tree with her boyfriend Mitch at a palce called Crossroads Cafe. Good food.
Sorry for the randomness of all this…gotta go - Alastair Humphreys is coming over for lunch in a few minutes!

Great to see you guys and to finally meet Philip! For the record, it was the Crossroads Cafe, but yes, the food was good. Seemingly the only hip place in Joshua Tree!
With such good pictures, the need for words diminishes.
How was lunch with Humphreys?
Nice one Amy - I changed it - I had a coyote special (chicken sandwich) at the Crossroads Cafe. Yes PB - you got away with that one for now.
I had a great sandwich that night -

Great photos and a great trip. Philip I want you out here in Bali visiting me too.
No need to compare, I don’t hold a championship belt nor am I trying to get one. I’m looking forward to meeting SEG and hopefully we can do a few events together for Whose Panties Are These? when it comes out this fall. There’s a strong likelihood she’ll be a contributor.
Thx for the pics and glad you had fun!
Nick
I really plan to come out this year - the singapore gig (my ticket to the area keeps getting pushed back….) - hopefully in the summer I will be there,
Philip
