By Sean | Permalink

We are happy to be be taking BootsnAll to the next level and starting another satellite office like Baliblog - for obvious reasons, we choose the newest independent travel hotspot, Zamunda.

Here’s what Travel Publishing Legend Tony Wheeler said:

“Through all my years of travelling, I was surprised that Maureen and I missed Zamunda. The real shock and congratulations go out to BootsnAll though….this is the only place in the world That Lonely Planet does not have a guide book to. Congratulations BootsnAll”

Me again…
I just thought I’d fill in for anyone who thought, What’s this guy going on about? That I just found the first paragraph of the country description humorous. Having gone through a few more of those on that site, I’ve realized its just a computer generated paragraph.

Hey guys, my dream to be in Zamunda has soured. And that too, after I resigned from my current job. I was so sure, I would clear my interview with Sean and the others.. sigh.

And all this happened over a mug of coffee that I shared with my advocate pal (I so hate advocates).

Anyway, there are a couple of points that perhaps should be posted, so that the next candidate who wishes to apply is more aware. Sean, were you deliberately hiding this from us??? or perhaps as this advocate pal said, the people of Zamunda dont give much away in the first meeting with them and perhaps the chiefs at BNA are not yet aware.

So now I type with a heavy heart, the various legal clauses that will keep me away from being a BNA staff member. Maybe someday, next year, there will be plans to open an office elsewhere..someplace less challenging.

Refer to the following acts for more information. I am only typing out the gist of the same.

1) Protection of tribal speech: Section 41 of the Zamu language act read with protection of tribal speech rules, that were amended in January this year states that any person wishing to stay for more than seven days in this beautiful country has to be fluent is Zamondanese… it is a tough language, a combination of Devnagiri script and Latin — And I find it difficult to even write perfect english (sob!). However, as this langauge is gaining in its popularity, lessons can be downloaded in MP3 form from several websites. Perhaps BNA will be providing a link to these websites soon.

2)Priority of communication for the Royal Prince: The one and only internet connection is meant for the benefit of the Royal Prince. The Heir to the Pearl Throne. No power cut is experienced in the Chati room, where the computer is housed. Hydel power is derived from a gushing river situated nearby. The number of hours during which the internet is exclusively for the use of the Prince is prescribed in the Usage Rule 2000 and it is 24 hours. This country follows the world wide practise of proclaiming that there are just 24 hours in a day (night included). If the Prince is tired of chatting or playing games, or even browsing BNA, he steps out, during which time, ordinary folks like Nick can scramble in and put up their blogs.

3) Freedom of Land: Land is cheap, it is actually up for grabs. Clause (l) of the Sand Property Act (I forget which year), states that if you win a wrestling competiton with the head of the hut, you win the hut and everything in it, right from the pet python, a favourite pet of the tribals - it keeps the rodents away, to the bawling babies and thirteen wives.

So at least till another interesting job offer comes, I shall crawl back to my air conditioned office, and beg for my job back. Wish me luck guys.

Hi again
I am doing a lot of research on this country. It is commonly believed that Zumais a favourite cyber game of the Prince. Here is the link

The same game can also be found on other sites. Have fun… if you cant get to Zamunda, at least you can enjoy the Royal Game

Guys, I would love the job in Zamunda. However, I would need my own space shuttle to commute there (I could never uproot from my custom built pleasure dome in Xanadu). Please reply soon if this is acceptable.

Yep…. you’re right, Zamunda is a great place to visit. Especially for the gals. Last time I was there picked up some great cookery tips from the guys. And they gave me their secret recipe on how to make perfect Bombay Gin. The herbal facials they gave me …. to die for….. looked 20 years younger. Didn’t trust the gals… out every night… at Tramps… networking they said blew all their money on crap games….. booze and ebay…..
Thanks for the newsletters….. keep em comin…

Too funny!!! I’d like to sign up for the travel blog - would I be paid in Zamundars? Should I bring small consumer good to exchange for my pay? How about photos and Bic pens and nylons? You didn’t enclose enough information on Zamundian night life? When do they fire up the torches?

Zamunda, ha ha very funny! Geez you guys must have way too much time on your hands :-0

I hear that Zamunda is also the home to the famous Zamunda bird which as the remarkable ability to swim underwater 20 meters as it stealthily feeds on the famous local fish which are highly prized and sought after.

I am in Thailand where I have relocated and eagerly await the start of Songkran. This is to celebrate Thai new year and the best festival around. Here in the north the celebration is the best in the country. People mirgrate this way from all over the country to join in the festivities.

From a very hot Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Dear Sir,

As the Zamundian Consul in the UK, I would like to take to take the opportunity to express our thanks on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Akeem of Zamunda, for your excellent work in promoting Zamunda. As you well know, Zamunda’s economy these days largely depends on the development of tourism. Promotion of our beautiful and peaceful country and its rich cultural heritage in publications such as yours, have a tremendous impact on Zamunda’s future.

In recognition of your efforts, His Royal Highness Price Akeem of Zamunda, has the pleasure to invite you for a ceremonial banquet that will be held in your honour. During this ceremony you will be awarded the title of Honorary Commander of the Silver Speckled Cross.

Please inform us of the size of your entourage, so we can start preparations for the ceremony.

Yours sincerely,

Patrick Mwezbe II
Consul of Zamunda

I proclaim on this day, that Mr. Mwezbe is part of the Axis of Evil, and that he and his cohorts are activitely working to attack the US of A.

I have been shown indisputable evidence of his terrorist link. I have also been shown oil prospecting charts, and have decided to take action!

Because of this, I am giving the government of Zamunda 23.4 hours to surrender and hand over all oil rights.

Surrender or die Mr. Mwezbe…
