Shipping Container as a Movable House
Nomadic Expats may appreciate/want something like this:
For starters, how many containers make a suitable “home”? After walking inside several and imagining the possibilities, I’ve long thought two 40 foot containers would be good. I foresaw one container as a living space and another as a work studio with tools and storage. But I now think just one container would be an appropriate challenge. Perhaps a second container could be acquired locally at new destinations and used for additional space as needed. I still want to discuss arrangements with more than one container, but I see a different level of customization for each container. For instance, the primary container might be equipped with plumbing for bathing, a toilet, and a sink.

Funny that you should come across this. I remember looking into it a few years ago as a way to get around the restrictions against property ownership by foreign nationals in some places, for example, Bali. The only thing is that it would seem to get bloody hot in a boxcar in Bali.
I also am reminded about containerized living when I get by spammed by the “containerized manufacturing plant” folks every week.

A while back, friend of mine, a corporal in the Canadian Air Force, sent pictures of his shipping container turned bunkhouse for two that he lives in while on duty in Croatia, but I wouldn’t have thought it possible to create a fully self-contained unit.
