High Drama at BootsnAll HQ
By Sean | PermalinkI am not normally a drama guy. Being in business for almost 6 years now, I have gotten used to the normal ups and downs of life.
Two Things happened today that shook me on both ends of the spectrum.
At about 11 a.m. this morning, a disturbing accident happened at the BootsnAll HQ construction site. Even when my pops was sick I was not as emotionally affected. I think I knew that pops would be ok. The violence and angony is sticking around my head.
At 5:15 pm today, I was recapping the day with me mum. We were sharing and commiserating over the accident….
The phone rang. It was a Eugene number. It was my immigration lawyer. She was in a really good mood and shared some news with me.
Chris’ visa application was approved!
This is superb news after years of trying to build BootsnAll and navigate the US immigration service. Immediately called Chris and we shared the good news.
I am sitting here now, both happy and sad on both ends of the spectrum. The empathy I feel for Mike, and the little victory that BootsnAll had today. Not sure what to do: cry or jump for joy.

Thanks for the message Rhonda - pops is good - still has a few check-ups - in the meantime he is working like he always has.
Yes - here’s to health!
Cry and jump for joy! I will think of Mike many times and hope he pulls through physically and emotionally - financially, if that’s an issue.
As for Chris, well, relief and joy. I didn’t think I could be soooo happy, but this visa surely did perk me up.
Waiting, patience, following the process has brought success.
Sorry to hear what happened to Mike, one of those life changing accidents that could be waiting around the corner for anybody, hope the guy can make a good recovery.
I guess Chris is halfway to Portland by now.
Poor Mike! Hopefully all will be well when he gets out of surgery. I can’t even imagine witnessing something like that so close up… I hope you’re doing ok too Sean.
But the news about Chris… I am so excited! I can’t wait to call Mark and tell him, too.
Mike is doing ok I hear…I too hope he is ok. I am fine Freesia. Kevin (the other worker) and I talked this morning about the incident - yesterday we were all in shock…
Yeah - Chris will hopefully be here in the next 30 days or so! Just in time for the Baseball playoffs!
guys
sad to here about the accident - but happy the visa has come through - will swing by on my next trip in Sept and have a few beers to celebrate!

How horrible to have an accident like that. Will give a little prayer for Mike, at least it sounds like he’s not paralized thank goodness!!!
Great news about the visa! That must be a relieve as I know how stressed you’ve been about it.
Hey, your dad’s condition sounds like what happened to my father in law off & on for a couple of years. They finally determined he is allergic to wheat! He completely changed his diet…now he has special bread (& it’s not great to tell you the truth), rice pasta, no chips or tortillas (except made from corn), and he can’t eat tons of things you wouldn’t expect…like canned soups as they have wheat gluten in them. But, his blood count is great, he’s got color in his skin again, and he has so much more energy. If there are continuing problems you might want to have the Dr’s check it out.
Hope everyone has a healthy rest of the year!!
