Natural Jet Lag Strategies
By Sean | Permalink |The past few years, I have been travelling at a fast pace. Fast pace for me is flying across major oceans every week or so… So fast that jet-lag affects me much more than when I travelled slow and overland (my preferred mode). Here are my natural(non-drug) solutions for adjusting quickly.
1) Vigorously exercise within 5 hours of your departure
2) Vigorously exercise within 12 hours of your arrival
3) Try to be rested before you leave for the trip…starting out tired will not help
4) Easy on alochol consumption in the air.
5) Don’t eat heaps on the flight or arrival.
6) Naps are good - Don’t fight that overwhelming urge to sleep
Any other solutions out there…would like to hear more.

When I fly to China ( from Milwaukee WI.) I stay up the night before, doing stuff like cleaning my house, cutting grass, going for a little run…. So the day I travel I’m pretty tired and usually slleep pretty well during the day on the plane. This begins the process of screwing up my sleep pattern. I still find myself wide awake at 2:00 AM . Usually then I take a walk, ( Beijing is actually pretty cool in the middle of the night).

Excellent strategies for the flyer, also for the non flyer.
