U.S. passport rules likely to be tightened

By Court | Permalink | 4 comments | April 11th, 2005 | Trackback

Passports would be required for travelers entering and re-entering the United States from Canada, Caribbean countries and Mexico, the State and Homeland Security departments announced yesterday.
The government’s proposal is part of a tightening of border security that would be phased in over the next three years.

Yes, I’m sure that the passport is going to protect us from those people who are looking to harm the U.S.

It’s an overdue step that will help - better than the present system. There is no one single solution so this is just one of many - as long as the government realizes this as well!

Looks like I’m not the only one who’ll have to go into the booth on the next trip up to Canada!

Whilst it is important to protect borders etc it is also important to protect jobs etc.

for instance it can now take over 3 hours to pass through immigration control at ORLANDO for BRITS [Yes the only real allies the USA has in many instances]–the consequence of this over zealous procedure bearing in mind all the security checks which already occur before Brits leave is being felt already with adverse publicity. Thus families panning a Florida trip are now cancelling those trips and looking to go back to Europe despite the fact that European holidays are far more expensive even taking into account expensive flights–the consequential loss of income to Florida, its buisnesses and its people are immence–the average Britis family spends around $7500 in FLORIDA FOR A TWO WEEK VACATION!!!

so ease up a little–the BRITS are not terrorists or people who want to become illegal immigrants to work without permits on low wages–these families pose no threat to your safety but can do untold damage to the economy of FLORIDA by simply staying away!!!
