A Different “Travel Perspective”
By Court | Permalink |I read this great article today called For Female GIs, Combat Is a Fact. The article analyzes the work that women are doing in Iraq and analyzes the restrictions on females in combat that should make this work out-of-reach. Being female, I tend to side with ‘em and if they want to go into combat, there is no reason that door should be closed. However, recent moves by Congress and President Bush are sending us in the opposite direction and axing jobs that are currently available to women. Kinda unbelievable really. It seems backwards in a country where I’ve always been told I can do anything a man can.

Court: There was an interesting radio piece on NPR over the weekend about this topic. One of the issues brought up by NPR left out in this article was the work women are doing that Men cannot. Searches of female suspects…..Of course there were quite a bit of people interviewed who believed that women should be doing ‘woman work’ like mannnig the mess, bringing coffee, and nursing the wounded.
True equality also means being subject to the draft — something the women I have known have all been vehemently against.
Great article though.
