Cubs 1 win away from World Series

With tonight’s win, the Cubs are on the doorstep of the World Series. Even though I watched the game at home alone, all the Cubs fans from Portland that Miguel and I have made friends with these past few weeks were calling me during the game to celebrate Grand Slams and other exciting Cub stuff. Last nights 11th inning win has all of us a bit tired and worn so instead of meeting at the pub, everyone stayed home or stayed low key. Game after game is tiring…

I surprise myself during tonights game. When the Cubs did something good (it happened a lot) I was clapping…just like I was at the game or in a bar.

I am also wondering why I am so damn excited about this. On some common sense levels, I think,

Does it even matter if they win it all?

How does it affect my life? I still need to get up every morning to work to put bread and butter on the table (which I enjoy thank-god)

Then I also think like a kid…and I wanna go outside and scream at the top of my lungs in joy. Jump around dancing. I want to go back to Chicago to share with the fans this time…And when you watch the TV and see what the folks in Chicago are doing…that is what they are doing. Jumping up and down in manic happiness. This run by the Cubs, no matter what happens…makes us Cub fans and maybe even other folks believe and have hope. Hope for your team to win, hope for no holds barred yelling and screaming for joy.

Fun stuff.

Fun, joy, hope, connection in a common goal, a togetherness to lift spirits. What could possibly be wrong in that?

Some Cub fans follow their team in spite of financial and physical needs. And that’s their choice and their happiness.

Go Cubs Go. Show those people who have supported you in the past and now that you can do it.

Wait till you get out here. I know you’re having fun where you are, but this is history in the making. There’s always something meaningful in witnessing moments like these. Especially firsthand.

See you when you get here!

When you were a kid you probably hoped the Cubs would get to the World Series, now you’re an adult they finally might make it, there’s got to be people in their 70’s in Chicago who have been waiting almost their whole lives for the boys to do it.
No apologies needed for going mad over that.

And what about those who died never experiencing a Cub game going this far. They’ll be coming out of their graves soon, maybe even before October 31st.

BootBlog is the company blog of the BootsnAll Travel Network, a company that has been connecting travellers since 1998. Our goal is to inspire, educate and cultivate an organic community of independent travellers. But what does that mean? Well, we love to travel and we love to connect other travellers who have the desire to get out and see this great world of ours. BootBlog will showcase what is going on around the office, around the company and within our community of travellers.
