At the Office

Sometimes little things…

…can be a challenge. I’m working in a basement of a large building in central PA -No windows, no desks, dark, no bathroom. I have modified a water bottle for “number 1’s”. As for “number 2’s” – well I made friends with some people upstairs and they will let me use there facility while they [...]

Toll Booths in Eastern USA

Date: July 7th, 2002 | 2 comments

The past few days I have been making my way from Chicago to the East Coast. Even though I am from Chicago and the land of toll booths every 5 miles, it still surprised me a bit coming back.
Do we have any toll roads like this on the West Coast?
We took the [...]

It’s Friday afternoon and the weekend is almost upon us. Sean is in Chicago visiting relatives, Chris has just got back from working out, Ant is typing like mad and I’m waiting for Jay’s mom Phyllis to pick me up for a bbq.

Our weekly meeting

Date: July 2nd, 2002 | 1 comment

This week we had our meeting at the top of Spencer’s Butte which is the highest point in Eugene. The hike lasted about 25 minutes and the summit was shrouded in mist, much chillier than expected but great to get out of downtown for a moment.

Ant, Sean, Nick, Chris at the top of [...]

Another week

So summer is here and we don’t have air conditioning in our office – but we do have at least 6 computers running 12 hours a day – so it gets a bit hot in here.
Yesterday, it was so hot here, we went to High Street Brewery at 2:30 for the afternoon, 3 pitchers of [...]

It’s 10:30 am. I just got up…
The guys and I went over to a friend’s house at 4 o’clock this morning to watch the Germany V. USA match in the World Cup – that, after staying up until 2 a.m. to watch the England v. Brazil game. Got back at 7, and slept. And [...]

The Rawlins family

We had a very inspiring visit from the Rawlins family, David, Jane, Beth, Thomas and Shona who were finishing up their year long World tour. Hailing from Licolnshire in England, David, a teacher and Jane, a software specialist decided to go for it and show their children the World. Many [...]

Homecoming

Date: June 17th, 2002 | No Comments

It’s a rainy day, slowly winding down, but I’ve felt a little drained all day, thanks to the gray skies and constant wet coming down. After days and days of warmth and sun, a rainy day is always harder to deal with.
But at least Jen and Sean are on the way home from their California [...]

Caught in Corte Madera

Date: June 12th, 2002 | No Comments

I suppose we were kinding of expecting it, but we never knew when it might strike. Now we know. A day after Sean had completed the drive from Eugene to San Francisco, the BootBus has a problem.
Sean’s currently stuck in Corte Madera. He heard a pop when he was engaging the clutch and now he [...]

What is BootBlog?

BootBlog is the company blog of the BootsnAll Travel Network, a company that has been connecting travellers since 1998. Our goal is to inspire, educate and cultivate an organic community of independent travellers. But what does that mean? Well, we love to travel and we love to connect other travellers who have the desire to get out and see this great world of ours. BootBlog will showcase what is going on around the office, around the company and within our community of travellers.
