Blogging on the Road

Date: July 15th, 2005 | 6 comments

Today Sean and I set off on our 10 day road trip to Yellowstone National Park to re-hike the trail that we developed the original BootsnAll code of conduct on. The first version was a little rough around the edges and we’ve since toned it down, but we still believe in it.

BootsnAll Member Giving Back

Date: July 14th, 2005 | No Comments

It’s kind of nice to receive thanks from a traveler who benefited from BootsnAll in more way than one. Sometimes we tend to forget that thousands of independent travelers are reading our stories and using our services every day.
I also like this guy because he choose to pass on the good vibes - and send [...]

World Traveler in Obituary

Date: June 16th, 2005 | 2 comments

Ramona Soberg’s obituary says she is a world traveler. Unfortunately, it doesn’t list any of her adventures. Still, I reckon most BootsnAll members would not mind being remembered as such.

Two Years Since Departure

Date: June 14th, 2005 | 3 comments

I realized while talking to Donovan this afternoon that it has been two years to the day since I left on my RTW trip through Europe, SE Asia, the Pacific and the US. I haven’t done any international travel since I got back in early Oct. 2003, but I definitely have a few trips [...]

Last Entry from the Road: Warsaw Poland

I am at the airport waiting for my last leg of flights back to PDX, OR. The past week 1/2 I have been running around Romania and Poland, meeting people, evaluating talent, and just catching up on what the hell has been going on in these regions since I was last here 8+ years [...]

Wandering Tour of Lower Manhattan

Date: April 30th, 2005 | 5 comments

After a late start, I finally dragged myself out to see a small portion of NYC. I’d formulated a rough plan of what I wanted to get to, and how to get there, and bought an all day Metro pass ($7) before jumping on the #1 subway heading downtown.
Battery Park
First stop was Battery Park, [...]

Weekend Away

Date: April 29th, 2005 | 2 comments

This weekend I’m heading to Sun River, Oregon, the site of the Half-Ironman I am doing in two months. My boyfriend and I are going to ride the bike course, which has 3,500 feet of climbing. I’ve never been out to the area, but Donovan swears the ride I’ll be doing is absolutely [...]

What is BootBlog?

BootBlog is the company blog of the BootsnAll Travel Network, a company that has been connecting travellers since 1998. Our goal is to inspire, educate and cultivate an organic community of independent travellers. But what does that mean? Well, we love to travel and we love to connect other travellers who have the desire to get out and see this great world of ours. BootBlog will showcase what is going on around the office, around the company and within our community of travellers.

There's gonna be a Bootie wedding!
Those of you who read the BootBlog may remember my recent musings on how online friends become real-life friends. What some of you who read that article may not know is that I heard from several BootsnAll members after it was published who said, "Yeah, that's interesting and all, but we've been doing that for years now." And it's … [Read more]
