Wanted: Vitamin D

Date: January 25th, 2010 | 2 comments

It’s about this time every year that we find ourselves dreaming of a winter getaway. The excitement of the holidays are over, the next three day weekend is months off, and summer seems years away (and yes, I realize that’s not a logical thought).
What to do? Well I’m always inclined to find a deal, [...]

Romantic Getaways for Valentine’s Day

Date: January 20th, 2010 | 1 comment

True story. In November, a group of BootsnAll staffers were sitting around a table trying to make a list of holidays coming up for which we needed to line up material for our sites. We jotted down the biggies - Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years - and then paused. I jumped right ahead to Memorial Day, [...]

Holiday Travel Tips from BootsnAll

Date: December 8th, 2009 | No Comments

I know I sound like everyone else this time of year, but I seriously can’t believe it’s December. I have clear memories of the 2008 BootsnAll party - so clear that it feels like it was yesterday - even though it’s the 2009 party that was just this past weekend. Time is flying, and I’m [...]

BootsnAll is Here for You, Budget Travelers

Date: November 18th, 2009 | 1 comment

We’re beginning to hear on the news that the economy is starting to recover (or at least it’s less bad than it was), but most people I know haven’t felt any improvements yet. There are still plenty of people who are unemployed or underemployed, and - as it impacts BootsnAll - many who are postponing [...]

Heading north to see the Olympics in Vancouver?

Date: November 11th, 2009 | 1 comment

Many moons ago when my parents moved my brothers and I from Connecticut to Oregon, we drove cross-country and spent much of our trip north of the border in Canada. I don’t remember much in the way of details about the places we saw, and as an adult I’ve only managed to make it back [...]

Taking Advantage of Off-Season Travel Deals

Date: November 4th, 2009 | 1 comment

One of the first truths you learn when you start paying attention to travel news is that by simply avoiding the peak travel times to any destination, you can save money on your trip. It makes perfect sense, and seems like one of those things you “should’ve known” in the first place - if I [...]

Looking for travel deals? This year, you’re in luck.

Date: June 10th, 2009 | No Comments

To say that I love Italy is a bit of an understatement, and I consider myself extraordinarily fortunate that I get to write about Italy as much as I do for work. But people who know my Italy writing are sometimes surprised to hear that I write about other things for work, too. No, really, [...]

A Visit to the Philippines: Good for You, Good for Them

Date: June 3rd, 2009 | 4 comments

I’m a Europhile. I have always had (and probably will always have) a major crush on Europe, despite the fact that for years she’s sapped my bank account dry for even the shortest of trips. I’m enjoying a trip to Italy right now that’s a helluva lot cheaper than other recent trips to Italy have [...]

RyanAir: €10 flights to the US

Date: November 3rd, 2008 | No Comments

Though profits are down, Ryanair’s plan to turn that around is to buy more planes and offer cheaper fares, including €10 economy flights to the US from England & Ireland. Passengers will still have to pay taxes so I would expect those fares to still be over €100, but that’s still a great deal. The [...]

What is BootBlog?

BootBlog is the company blog of the BootsnAll Travel Network, a company that has been connecting travellers since 1998. Our goal is to inspire, educate and cultivate an organic community of independent travellers. But what does that mean? Well, we love to travel and we love to connect other travellers who have the desire to get out and see this great world of ours. BootBlog will showcase what is going on around the office, around the company and within our community of travellers.

There's gonna be a Bootie wedding!
Those of you who read the BootBlog may remember my recent musings on how online friends become real-life friends. What some of you who read that article may not know is that I heard from several BootsnAll members after it was published who said, "Yeah, that's interesting and all, but we've been doing that for years now." And it's … [Read more]
