BootsnAll Magic
I just got off the phone with Nick O’Neill. We talk once a week about what he is up to in Bali and how to keep things going and improving.
At the end of our weekly conversations, after the business stuff comes to an end, we find ourselves conversing like friends, not just colleagues. This week was no different. Nick shared a magical moment. He told me how cool it was to be recognized by a random person in Bali and then quickly become friends (Peter held the BaliBlog Bar-b-que).
Nick was happy to meet a few new people and share his love for life, travel, and Bali. Neat stuff.
He then started remembering old times. He specifically reference the times when Ant, Chris, Nick and I lived and worked in a 2 bedroom apartment and how fun it was looking back at it. He called those “magical times” because we all believed that BootsnAll had a chance despite the odds. He recalled mornings of brewing beer, answering BootsnAll membership applications and barbeques on the front porch.
“We can never re-create thoses times” he said….And I do agree with him. I added that we can’t re-create those times, but we can share the love of life, travel etc with others…and by Nick leaving the USA and moving to Bali, he is able to reach and touch new people everyday.
It makes me feel good to be a small part of the BootsnAll community - and help aid people like Nick to travel and share with other folks all over the world. Next time Nick is in the USA, we’ll have to create some new memories and new magic. Stay tuned, he is coming this December to Portland, Oregon!

“Magical times” - excellent description of those dear memories that can be re-created in another format today and in the future.
Red wine and CAKE, Nick! And good times with bbq pork.
And steak burritos. And morning meetings up the butte. And your laugh.
And..And…And…
I definitely miss the magic.
Red wine and cake - ohhhhh, I like that!
What is BootBlog?
BootBlog is the company blog of the BootsnAll Travel Network, a company that has been connecting travellers since 1998. Our goal is to inspire, educate and cultivate an organic community of independent travellers. But what does that mean? Well, we love to travel and we love to connect other travellers who have the desire to get out and see this great world of ours. BootBlog will showcase what is going on around the office, around the company and within our community of travellers.Top Categories

One of the things that tends to happen when I talk to people about my job at BootsnAll is the, "Oh, you're so lucky!" moment. I do consider myself extremely fortunate to be able to write about travel every day - to do something I love so much that work doesn't feel …

Those of you who read the BootBlog may remember my recent musings on how online friends become real-life friends. What some of you who read that article may not know is that I heard from several BootsnAll members after it was published who said, "Yeah, that's interesting and all, but we've been doing that for years now." And it's … [Read more]
