BootsnAll Member Bideshi in Portland
It’s been awhile since we had a BootsnAll member stop by the office. However, thank to a recent post on the message boards wondering where the Boots Crew were these days, we managed to arrange lunch with Bideshi, aka Mike (blue shirt below).
With a couple of stints working in South Korea as an English teacher, Mike’s been able to travel for the last 5 years. Then one day recently he awoke in a Guatemalan village and decided he was done. It was time to return ‘home’ and go back to school. His goal? To be a geography teacher. Pretty appropriate considering his travels through Mexico, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, Hong Kong, Iceland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, Kosovo, Greece, Italy, Vatican City, San Marino, and Monaco.
He told us a fantastic story of an earlier adventure where he bought a canoe and paddled for 57 days on the Mississippi River, with no previous canoe experience. It was a very Huckleberry Finn-esque story that no doubt would have made Mark Twain happy.
Mike was in Portland to pick up his buddy Jake (far right above) before they both fly to Thailand for a few weeks. It was great to meet them both and we wish them a wonderful time.
