Oregon White Water Rafting
Oregon Rafting Trip Overview:
If you can’t afford to travel to another country this year, then check out this short, but wonderful, rafting and camping adventure in Oregon - the state that is home to BootsnAll office. Most of the BootsnAll office will be on this trip, so other Bootsnall community members are encouraged to come!
This multi-day Oregon whitewater trip covers over 50 miles of high desert on the Deschutes River in Central Oregon - and will end at the Columbia river. This rafting trip allows plenty of free time at camp, relax, hike, fish or enjoy the sun and scenery in the remote wilderness. Some exciting rapids you will encounter are White-Horse, Buckskin Mary, Boxcar, and Oak Springs. All meals will be provided as well as transfer to/from Portland Oregon. All food and gear is provided with this trip - you just need to bring your sleeping bag, and get ready for some major water fights in the 100 degree weather.

Looks great, especially with the BNA group there. Still in Malaysia, but when we get home we’ll think about it.
I’m in for the rafting trip! Sign me up, please.
Madhu - we’ll miss you. Jonathan and Chuck - Yahooo! I can’t wait already.
Oooh I want to go! I’m a boots newbie and I have minimal experience… will this be fairly beginner friendly?
The group is 100 percent beginner friendly. There is no better way to learn how to raft than with us on the Deschutes. Each boat will have a guide and all you have to do is paddle and enjoy yourself.
Donovan, Can a Open Boater come on this trip too? Whitewater Canoeing is my hobby, lots of experence.
Oh, man. And this one’s close enough (I live in Eugene) that I could actually do it, but gotta save for next year’s tuition…but whitewater rafting, one of the true loves of my life.
Keep your fingers crossed for me, guys!
Loads of people signing up for this trip. Try to get your deposits in soon. We are going to have 30 people - 5 boats - and camp for 3 nights.
Donovan,
My Dad just signed us for the trip. Will there be coffee avaiable in the mornings or should I plan to bring my french press?
French presses are not allowed, mate. We drink coffee grounds mixed with cold water, like real men not REI wimps.
No worries. Did I mention that I eat the grounds from my french press when I am done?
Jay - Yes, coffee will be available. It\’s a great way to start the morning on the river. Bring it as a back up. By the way, you know your Dad told me to say that, right? If one of you two could email me all the names, and email addresses of the seven people going, that would be great. I will be sending gear lists in the coming months, as well as pictures to get everyone excited.
I figured as much. No true north westerner goes any where with out good coffee. Hell, my Dad thinks instant coffee is okay and on top of that he drinks cheap beer, but he’s still an okay guy.
I’ll let my Dad send you the list of who’s going on the trip.
I’m in if I can get the funding and the days off… Still working on that.
Hey, Donovan,
Did I tell you that’s one of the most fun trips I have ever taken. The guides were great, food was good, and I was the only one never dunked (due to my advanced age, I suppose). I highly recommend this trip!
Another cool resource I ran across for all who might be interested. Prices are a little different, but looks like they have a high quality company.

One of the things that tends to happen when I talk to people about my job at BootsnAll is the, "Oh, you're so lucky!" moment. I do consider myself extremely fortunate to be able to write about travel every day - to do something I love so much that work doesn't feel …

Those of you who read the BootBlog may remember my recent musings on how online friends become real-life friends. What some of you who read that article may not know is that I heard from several BootsnAll members after it was published who said, "Yeah, that's interesting and all, but we've been doing that for years now." And it's … [Read more]
