Question from PDX’er BNA’er
hey man i’m living in portland for the summer and i need to be heading back to the east coast, vermont, around the 1st of 2nd week in august and i was curious if you guys had any ideas. i’d prefer to do something not as boring as buy a plane ticket and you guys seem to be experts in that sort of stuff. let me know!
Well - my answer is this.
1) Hitchhike: It’s cheaper and a superb way for an adventure and to meet new and interesting people. Nick wrote an excellent article on hitchhiking several years ago.
2) Drive: Roadtrippinng in the US of A is one of the most fun trips in my book.
3) Driveaway: Cheap and you can drop it off on the other end of the country. Here is a story about Driveaway.
If anyone else has some ideas for Pete - let him know in the comments below. Enjoy mate!

What is BootBlog?
BootBlog is the company blog of the BootsnAll Travel Network, a company that has been connecting travellers since 1998. Our goal is to inspire, educate and cultivate an organic community of independent travellers. But what does that mean? Well, we love to travel and we love to connect other travellers who have the desire to get out and see this great world of ours. BootBlog will showcase what is going on around the office, around the company and within our community of travellers.Top Categories

Nick’s article was great. And I’m reading a book about this Polish couple who hitchhiked around the world. Took them five years with tons of unusual, heartwarming and scary experiences. How did they do it? Positive attitude, little schedule (mostly no schedule), insatiable interest and the confidence to “get into” the culture. A review will be posted shortly.
