RTW Travelers accidentally meet

I received this note from a BNA traveler today…pretty cool.

I took the train to the airport to go to my dad’s, and I was reading a travelogue that Philip had given me. Partway into the ride, the man across from me asked where I was going. I said Virginia, and he said, “I saw you were reading a travelogue and thought you may be going somewhere exotic.” So we started talking about travel, and I told him about my upcoming RTW trip. He asked how one goes about planning such a thing, and of course, being the ever-ready BnA cheerleader, I told him about the website. So that was that.

As I’m getting off the train at the airport, a woman catches my attention and says, “Did I hear you say you’re RTWing next year?”

“Yes.”

“Me too! And I heard you mention a website to him–which one was it?”

“It’s called BootsnAll.”

“Oh, yes, I write for them once in awhile, and I’ve met a couple of the guys…”

Turns out it was Amy! Can you believe it? And as if that wasn’t weird enough, our flights were leaving 15 minutes apart, on the same carrier, two gates apart. So we got food and chatted until our planes boarded! It was way cool. I like her a lot. I haven’t gotten in touch with her since coming back from Virginia, but I plan to. I loooooove serendipity.
