I never realized how many travelers like to use the word serendipity until I started reading new member applications. People seem to be big fans of letting serendipity guide their travels. I, personally, had never used the word in that context…I wonder if she’s a good guide?

I am one of those new members who used the word, and while it is a favorite of mine, the application actually prompts us with that word which could explain the frequent usage. I must contend that it is a delightful thing to let serendipity guide your travels. It is amazing the events, people, sights, and things you encounter that serve to enrich not only the experience, but you as a person. And, everyday holds the delectable joy of surprise to accompany the wonder of exploration. Try it! I wouldn’t have it any other way!
If you want another good word, try “maximax”
Its part of game theory. It means that if you are given a number of choices of actions, but you do not know the probablitiy to success with any individual action, you should choose the action which gives you the best result… basically: Go for it.
Ok Chris, if I see anyone with the word “maximax” on their app, I’ll approve them, if only because they read enough of the Bootblog to know to use that word ![]()

What is BootBlog?
BootBlog is the company blog of the BootsnAll Travel Network, a company that has been connecting travellers since 1998. Our goal is to inspire, educate and cultivate an organic community of independent travellers. But what does that mean? Well, we love to travel and we love to connect other travellers who have the desire to get out and see this great world of ours. BootBlog will showcase what is going on around the office, around the company and within our community of travellers.Top Categories

Awhile back I posted here about getting into the Boston Globe Travel Show for free. Turns out that was for the trade conference during the day on Friday Feb 19th, not the travel show for regular consumers like you and me that runs from the evening of Friday, February 19 to …

I had no idea what the word meant until I looked it up in the Oxford English, ‘the occurrence of events by chance in a fortunate way’.
Origin: coined by the English politician Horace Wolpole, from Serendip(a former name for Sri Lanka).
Good to hear BootsnAll members are getting all the luck.
