Watchin’ Football
On Saturday I went to my first University of Oregon football game. Big deal, you may think, but in this town it is. The team has had great success in recent years (naturally coinciding with my arrival in Eugene) and the newly renovated stadium is already sold out for the rest of the season.
The crowd (and the stadium) have a reputation for noise and they certainly lived up to it in the first half. It was kinda weird for me cos I was sitting in the opposing team’s supporters section. When I was cheerin’, everyone around me was bitchin’, and vice versa.
Unfortunately for the Ducks, they got badly beaten. But it was still a great day out, a wonderful atmosphere and there’s not a bad seat in the house.
Only two complaints:
1. You can’t drink beer inside the stadium
2. The Ducks new mascot, SuperDuck, looks like an idiot and is embarrassing
