Why I Love What I Do
I really do love my job, and yet there are moments when I’m apt to forget why what we do here at BootsnAll is so cool. Even saying we’re here to help out the independent traveler doesn’t come close enough sometimes. So when we get feedback from customers like the one I read today, it warms the cockles of my heart (whatever cockles are):
Just wanted to thank you for all the advice that your site provided for me on Portland, OR. The top 10 things to do was very helpful, as well as the information on the specific neighborhoods in Portland. This was the first vacation as a party of one for me. Your site helped me to plan my trip and to feel like I knew what to expect before I got there. Also, the info on traveling alone was great and helped me to be more excited than scared about what I was about to encounter. Thank you for everything and keep up the good work!
Now that’s a reason to go to work everyday, if I ever needed one. Not only were we able to help this person out with resources about what to see and do while visiting our fair city of Portland, we also provided a confidence boost so traveling alone wasn’t as scary as it otherwise could be. And we did all of it without ever meeting or talking to this person. It’s a new world out there – what constitutes a “community” is changing – and I think this is as great an example of what makes a community work as anything.

I’m with both of you, Jessica and Karen. Liking what you do is fairly new to me (teaching was the only other career I loved, loved). It does f e e l
good to know you’re helping someone and they telling you. I am grateful.
So, let’s keep doing what we’re doing and get better doing it! Whoa!
What is BootBlog?
BootBlog is the company blog of the BootsnAll Travel Network, a company that has been connecting travellers since 1998. Our goal is to inspire, educate and cultivate an organic community of independent travellers. But what does that mean? Well, we love to travel and we love to connect other travellers who have the desire to get out and see this great world of ours. BootBlog will showcase what is going on around the office, around the company and within our community of travellers.Top Categories

It's been awhile since we had a BootsnAll member stop by the office. However, thank to a recent post on the message boards wondering where the Boots Crew were these days, we managed to arrange lunch with Bideshi, aka Mike (blue shirt below).
With a couple of stints working in South …

Awhile back I posted here about getting into the Boston Globe Travel Show for free. Turns out that was for the trade conference during the day on Friday Feb 19th, not the travel show for regular consumers like you and me that runs from the evening of Friday, February 19 to …

Yes, I also love what I do, working in the travel industry as an independent travel consultant, specialising in less well known destinations in Europe. When I get feedback from clients saying how much they have enjoyed their trip it does warm the cockles of my heart. I like to think that I have given some people the idea of going somewhere they might not have considered. if they hadn’t read about it on my site.
